Go, Fall. Go!

"Go, Dog. Go!" promo photo by Joann Lee, 2013
It's all autumnal outside, so I thought it to be about time I posted an update!

This summer was a very busy one, which included the original MET production of "The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever!" traveling to the DC Capital Fringe Festival and the New York International Fringe Festival. We were honored to be one of 4 of the 185 shows at the festival to receive the FringeNYC Overall Excellence in Ensemble Award, as selected by a panel of over 40 theatre professionals.

Two weekends ago, the popualar "Go, Dog. Go!" closed at the MET, in which I played M.C. Dog. Coming up in December, I'll be stage managing "Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!" I'll be working with fellow company members to direct an original show by Caitlyn Joy come summertime, so watch here for more updates as the year goes on.

In the meantime, I'm working to keep myself busy artistically through the strange haze that is the result of the government shutdown. Theatres in both DC and MD are feeling the effects of this, including the Puppet Co., where I landed my first professional acting job out of college and continued there for almost two years. Co-founder Christopher Piper wrote an article for DC Metro Theater Arts about how the shutdown is affecting the company; you can read the full article here.

This Sunday, I'll be running for Young Playwrights' Theater for the Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause. I ran the 8k last year, but am scaling back to the 1-mile fun run this time around. If you'd like to join,  you can sign up the morning of the race. All information about the race can be found here. Be sure to indicate YPT as your cause of choice!

Until next update, thanks for catching up!

The Young Olympians take Washington, DC!

Excitement abounds, folks!  This summer, "The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever!" a MET original musical, is going to Capital Fringe Festival this July! I built puppets and props for this show and am thrilled the MET is getting to debut at CapFringe with such a strong piece.

To help get our footing on this most radical opportunity, we're raising funds through our IndieGogo page:

And you can lend us a hand by sending some funds our way. Going to Fringe is an additional project that is outside our normal season budget, so your support is immensely appreciated!  Plus, since MET is a registered nonprofit, all donations are tax-deductible and we have perks for those who donate up to a certain amount!

For a sneak peek at what you'll be supporting, check out our music video of one of the songs from the show (Bonus points if you catch the 'Breakfast Club' reference):

Recognitions & Glass Menagerie

Happy 2013!

2012 was a great year, and to top it off, received a few recognitions from DC Metro Theatre Arts:
Forum Theatre's "HOLLY DOWN IN HEAVEN" was also recognized as a "Best Play of 2012," along with the MET's "A COMMEDIA PUSS IN BOOTS" as a "Best Children's Theatre Production of 2012."

Coming up next month, I'll be performing as Laura in the Glass Menagerie at the MET!  The rehearsal process thus far has been exciting as well as challenging.  I'm working among close friends, so the camaraderie and balance we strike with each other has been invaluable.  Be sure to check out this show!
